Detailed Product Description

Description

Sodium Bromide (NaBr) is used to form clear-brine workover and completion fluid for densities ranging from 8.4 to 12.5 lb/gal (1007 to 1498 kg/M3). These fluids are used where formation waters contain high concentrations of bicarbonate and sulfate ions.

Application & Features

Sodium Bromide is used as a single-salt brine or in combination with other brines to form clear-brine workover and completion fluids with densities to 12.5 lb/gal (1498 kg/M3). These brines eliminate the potential of formation damage due to the precipitation of carbonate, bicarbonate or sulfate compounds associated with using calcium-base brines where formation waters contain high concentrations of bicarbonate and sulfate ions. Sodium Bromide brine has a crystallization temperature approximately 33(0). Unless a "chlorides-free" environment is required, Sodium Bromide brines should be used as part of a NaCl/NaBr blend. Blends with higher density zinc bromide can also be used.
